Sussex Digital In Reach Team provides a free platform on which Care Providers across Sussex can access free advice and support on technology, digitalisation and data protection. We are run by the care providers for the care providers.
The NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) has committed to equipping 250 care home bedrooms with Nobi's proven fall prevention and detection technology, using funding from Digitising Social Care’s Digital Transformation Fund. The technology is designed to support safety and independence, enabling people to lead more fulfilling lives and enhancing safety. It is particularly beneficial for people at high risk of falling or those who have already experienced frequent falls.
We encourage everyone to apply, but please note that funding is limited, and settings with residents at the highest risk of falling and with staff eager to embrace new technologies will benefit the most.

What are Nobi Lights
Nobi Smart Lamps: Nobi Smart Lamps are cutting-edge, AI-driven lamps designed to enhance safety and well-being, especially for people at high risk of falls. Here’s how they work:
Fall Prevention: Nobi detects when you leave your bed at night and automatically turns on the lights, preventing disorientation and ensuring clear visibility. It recognises patterns, such as prolonged inactivity, and alerts staff if needed. When a resident sits up in bed, Nobi gently illuminates the room with soft light, and if the person stands up to go to the bathroom, the lamp fully lights up. Care staff receive alerts when the person leaves their bed, allowing them to proactively prevent falls.
Fall Detection: Nobi’s four RGB sensors continuously monitor the environment. When a fall occurs, the lamp’s powerful onboard processor analyses images and detects the position of the fallen person, immediately alerting your staff to ensure quick assistance. At one care home taking part in a pilot, the average response time was under 2 minutes, showcasing its life-saving potential.
Privacy Guarantee: Nobi processes images locally within the lamp, preserving privacy by eliminating the need for external analysis. The powerful Nvidia processor shares analysed images only with designated staff or trusted contacts, using stick figures to depict the situation for quick assessment.
Circadian Rhythm Support: Nobi adjusts its lighting based on the time of day, promoting a natural daily rhythm. This feature combines safety with stylish design, seamlessly fitting into any interior.
Hands-Free Communication: Care staff can communicate and reassure residents via the lamp, informing them that help is on the way, ensuring peace of mind for you and safer, personalised care for residents.

How Hartland Care have benefited from installing Nobi Lights, funded by Lancashire & Cumbria ICB:
In 2023, the British care home Hartland House in Milnthorpe (Cumbria, UK) fitted 8 Nobi-lights for fall prevention and detection. This was part of a pilot project by the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) of Lancashire & South-Cumbria.
Discover in this case study how Nobi was able to support their claims in fall prevention, by effectively avoiding 4 in 5 falls – and how it convinced the ICB to install an additional 500 living units, spread over 50 care homes in the region.
